Who was Yellow Billy?
According to legend Yellow Billy was a Gentleman Bush Ranger who roamed the Hunter Valley areas of Broke and Pokolbin during the 1860’s.
Yellow Billy was a pseudonym for William White.
He was an early forager who allegedly lived off the land and slept in caves under the Brokenback Ranges. It was here this native desperado cooked on fire to survive.
Now we immortalise this local celebrity as we ignite the fire in his honour with the backdrop of the Brokenback Ranges in our sights. The legend burns bright.
